A new strategy to guide the attraction, retention, and development of the state’s child protection workforce has been launched by the Victorian Government.

The Child Protection Workforce Strategy 2021-2024 was created with input from practitioners and industry experts to meet the current needs of the community and respond to future service demands.

Key focus areas of the Strategy include:

  • attracting and retaining a diverse workforce
  • advancing Aboriginal self-determination
  • providing a modern learning environment
  • prioritising worker safety
  • delivering evidence-based best practice; and
  • continuing to foster greater collaboration within the sector

The Strategy will create a new a learning centre for practitioners, expand psychological support programs and provide additional support to help practitioners relocate to areas where recruitment is challenging.
